Altair's Focus STREET Concept Vehicle Receives Ford Design Award

Altair Engineering receives "Special Recognition Award for Outstanding Achievement in Design" from Ford Motor Company at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas Troy, MI., Nov. 9, 2004 - Today, Altair Engineering, Inc., a global leader recognized for innovative product development, advanced engineering software and grid computing technology, announced that its Ford Focus STREET concept vehicle received special recognition from Ford Motor Company for outstanding achievement in design. The award was presented and announced during the SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

Altair Racing Technologies, a high-performance vehicle development team at Altair, presented Ford with an unsolicited "dollar car" program proposal and vehicle concept earlier in the year to demonstrate the street aftermarket opportunities for the Ford Focus. The finished concept vehicle - Ford Focus STREET - has a very distinctive, aftermarket body appearance package with a transparent panoramic roof and tailgate design made from Bayer MaterialScience's Makrolon® polycarbonate material. Interior modifications include two-tone leather seats, steering wheel and gear shift lever. Additionally, PPG provided Paint and Solextra® Performance Glass. Chassis components and gauges were provided by Ford Racing.

"We are very honored to have received this design award considering the number of new products and show vehicles that were debuted at SEMA this year," said David Mason, Managing Director of Altair Engineering, Great Lakes Region. "This award recognizes the talent and hard work of our development team and clearly demonstrates Altair's ability to deliver innovative and exciting consumer products".
